How to Fix
Error Code E1?
Room Sensor: this
code means that the circuit board is not receiving a signal from the sensing
bulb mounted in front of the evaporator coil. Diagnosis: visually inspect
and/or use an ohmmeter to check the following:
- Sensor
has come unplugged from the PC board. OR
- Sensor
has failed and must be replaced. OR.
- Sensor wire has shorted or opened
necessitating the repair of the wire.
How to Fix
Error Code E2?
Indoor Sensor:
this code means that the PC board is not receiving a signal from the copper
sensing bulb mounted to the side of the evaporator coil. Diagnosis:
visually inspect and/or use an ohmmeter to check the following:
- Sensor
has come unplugged from the PC board. OR.
- Sensor
has failed and must be replaced. OR.
- Sensor wire has shorted or opended
necessitating the repair of the wire.
How to Fix
Error Code E3?
Outdoor Sensor:
(Heat Pump Only) this code means that the PC board is not receiving a signal
from the copper sensing bulb mounted to the copper tubing near the condenser
coil. Diagnosis: visually inspect and/or use an ohmmeter to check the
following:
- Sensor
has come unplugged from the PC board. OR.
- Sensor
has failed and must be replaced. OR.
- Sensor wire has shorted or opened
necessitating the repair of the wire, since this wire runs through one or
more walls, the likelihood of the wire being cut is probable.
How to Fix
Error Code E4?
Compressor Overload:
this code means that one of the safety overloads on the compressor has
activated. Diagnosis: the compressor has both an electrical and a temperature
overload device built into it. The thermal overload will trip if the gas temperature
reaches 154.4° Fahrenheit. This error can be reset by turning the unit off and
on. Try one of the following solutions:
- High
ambient temperature, with a low ambient kit installed, Unionaire systems
will function up to 122° Fahrenheit.
- Blockage
in the refrigerant circle, make sure both service valves are fully open, a
high pressure on the liquid side, over 350 psig, and a low suction side,
under 40 psig, indicates a blocked cap tube. If a blockage is diagnosed,
the system must be evacuated, blown back and cleared. It is recommended
that a filter/dryer be installed in the vapor line before pumping down and
recharging.
- Condenser
fan not working, if the compressor runs, but the fan does not, the motor
or its capacitor may have failed. Repair or replace as necessary.
- Compressor
problem, if the compressor has developed internal faults, it could simply
be starving for oil. Examine the installation of the unit to insure that
the refrigerant lineset has been trapped properly to facilitate oil
return. Any other internal problem with the compressor will mean
replacement is necessary.
- Compressor wiring, if the compressor and/or
its capacitor have been wired incorrectly, the compressor could overload.
Rewire as necessary.
How to Fix
Error Code E5?
Low refrigerant charge:
this code means that the refrigerant charge within the system is not adequate
to run it without frosting the coils. diagnosis: the refrigerant charge must be
brought to within specified parameters. Possible causes of a low charge could
include the following:
- The
factory charge in Unionaire condensers is enough for the whole system with
13 feet of lineset, but may have been short, see the temperature/pressure
chart to charge it within specifications.
- Leaking,
the system may have a leak which must be located with a refigerant
detector, or by a sop test, most leaks can be braised up, however, if a
component such as a 4 way valve has developed a leak, it will need
replacing.
- Lineset lengthened and/or increased in
diameter. A lineset longer than 13 feet, or larger in diameter than
that with which it came will require that additional refrigerant be added.

Troubleshooting
Problem: The unit can not be restalted just after shut down.
( RUN lamp is illuminating )
Solution: Restart is
stopped for 3 minutes afler shut down to protect the unit. Thlee-minute
protection timer incorporated in the miomoomputer ectuates automatically.
Except that power is connected , this fundion does not actuate.
Problem: Air is not blown out at starting of heating
operation.
Solution: Air blow is
stopped to prevent blowing out of cold air until the indoor heat exchanger is
wenned. ( 2 to 5 min ) ( HOT KEEP)
Problem: Air is not blown out for 6 to 12 min, at heating operation.
Problem: Air is not blown out for 6 to 12 min, at heating operation.
Solution: When outdoor
temperature is low and humidity is high, the unit sometimes performs defrosting
automatically. Please wait. During defrosting, water or steam are raising from
the outdoor unit.
Problem: Air is not blown out at DRY operation.
Solution: Indoor fan is
sometimes stopped to prevent vapor of dehumidified moisture and save energy.
Problem: Mist is blown out at COOL operation.
Solution: This
phenomenon sometimes occurs when the temperature and humidity of the room are
very high , but it will disappear with the lowering of the temperature and
humidity.
Problem: Odor is sent out.
Solution: Air blown out
during operation may smell. This is the smell of tobacco or cosmetics sticked
to the unit.
Problem: Noise is heard cracking sound.
Solution: This is
caused by the refrigerant that is circulating inside the unit.
Problem: Operation can not be restarted even if the power is
recovered.
Solution: The memory
circuit of the miclocompumr is cleared. Operate the remote controller again to
restart the operation.
Problem: Remote control signals are not received.
Solution: Remote control signals may not be leceived when
signal receiver on the air conditioner body is exposed to direct sunlight or
strong lighting . In that case , interrupt the sunlight or damen the lighting.
